Journal Mission and Criteria for Publication

Journal of Management & Organization (JMO) is an international peer-reviewed journal from eContent. It provides global perspectives on management and organizations of benefit to scholars, educators, students, practitioners, policy-makers and consultants worldwide. Quality manuscript submissions, within the scope of the journal, are welcome through ScholarOne.

Journal of Management & Organization (JMO) publishes articles from across the management discipline, represented by three editorial departments, overseen by an editor of international standing in the area. Original articles which inform management research and practice from outside the discipline - such as from psychology, education, political science, sociology, statistics and research design - will also be considered.

JMO welcomes alternative research approaches in terms of methodology, ontology, and epistemology - the emphasis is not on the approach adopted but the rigor and innovativeness with which it is applied and the significance of the contribution made to academic knowledge. Whilst reaching a broad and international audience, in all cases and irrespective of reference discipline or research method, published articles will contain a clearly articulated theoretical foundation, rigorous analysis, and an important contribution to the understanding of the theoretical mechanisms underlying a specific and significant empirical phenomenon.

Articles may develop new theory or methodology, present original empirical research, test theory, or provide a critical review of the extant literature. In determining whether an article makes an original and significant contribution to academic knowledge, the following criteria must be satisfied:

(a) Is the question addressed in the article original and important to the understanding and practice of management?

(b) Is the evidence presented distinctive, credible and convincing?

(c) Will the article change the accepted wisdom at the forefront of the field?

Articles must be written in a clear, succinct and accessible manner. Authors are encouraged to consider whether their manuscripts would benefit from the use of a professional copy-editing service before submitting manuscripts for review. Authors must sign upon submission for review a statement indicating that the submitted work is their original work, complies with the ethical guidelines for research in the area of study, and is not under publication consideration elsewhere. Breaches of ethical standards will result in immediate withdrawal of the manuscript from review, notification of the breach to journal readers and other effected parties (e.g., other journal where work published or under review; original author of work).
